Novel Connections (a.k.a. Book Dating)
Name
Period
Title

This activity will give you a chance to share the novel you read this past term with every student in our class in a really casual way. Likewise, you will get the chance to hear about the novels that everyone else read. Your job is to have a brief conversation with every student individually and then to see if there are any connections between your novel and their novel.
  1. Fill in your name and class period, and then write the title of one novel that you read during SSR time and finished this past term.
  2. Have a short conversation with every student listed below. Tell each other about your novel’s plot, your protagonist (main character), and the conflict he/she had to deal with. Write the title of their novel next to their name.
  3. Decide together whether or not your novels have anything in common. In what way are they connected? Your goal is to find at least 2(or more) novels that are somehow connected to yours.
    1. If they ARE connected somehow, explain in just a few words how they are connected.
    2. If they are NOT connected in any way at all, then get them to initial your form and move on.
